Obituary for Shirley Ann Mayo

Shirley Ann  Mayo
Shirley Ann Mayo, 85, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away on December 29, 2017 at Quail Ridge Special Care Center. Mrs. Mayo was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Rex Mayo, her par-ents, and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Gary and Guyla Mayo, Kathy Fowler, Patrick and Cindy Mayo; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Story and Irene Konsella; and sis-ter-in-law, Ellen Fetters.

Shirley Mayo was born and raised in Jump River WI. She moved to Mem-phis at the age of 18 to work at Sears Roebuck and then Ellis Bagwell Drug Co. She married William Rex Mayo in 1950 and lived in the Frayser area of Memphis. She successfully managed married life, motherhood, and ac-counting career through 52 years of marriage. She was a devout and active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, in particular, the Alter Guild, choir, and myriad school fundraisers. She also served as Lector and and Eucharistic Minister. Mrs. Mayo was an active member of The Frayser Neighborhood Council.

For the last ten years of her life, Mrs. Mayo bravely faced the effects of Parkinson’s disease with the same dignity and grace she showed throughout her life. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM and funeral Mass service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3700 Thomas St, Memphis, Tennessee with burial following at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery in Millington, Tennessee.
