Obituary for Nettie Jean Carney

Nettie Jean Carney, 83, of Memphis, TN passed away Friday, October 6, 2017. Jean is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jackie Stoots Carney; 2 granddaughters, Ashley Carney Whaley (David Whaley) and Laura Kathryn Carney; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Adisyn Whaley; brother, William (Bubsie) Curtis and wife Jane of Rusk, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, James (Jimmy) Paul Carney; her two sons, James (Jimbo) Paul Carney, Jr. and Steven Curtis Carney; her parents, Dovie N. Curtis and William C. Curtis; brother, Charles E. Curtis of Rusk, TX.

Life Story for Nettie Jean Carney

Jean enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren, and she was known as another mother to the children who grew up with her sons. She was also active in the PTA, Daughters of the Nile Organization, and Frayser Ski Club. She also enjoyed traveling to Texas to spend time with her family.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 1- 2 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2 pm. All services and interment will be held at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home and Cemetery.
