Obituary for Thomas Hughes Jr.

Thomas Hughes, Jr., 88, of Memphis, TN passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his son, Rickey Nowlin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy L. Hughes; daughter, Donna Jurgens(Bob); grandchildren: Kristen Thomas(Jeremy), Michael Jurgens(Zoe), Adam Jurgens(Kristen), and Kimberly Jurgens; and great-grandchildren: Jackson Simmons, Emily Simmons, Charlotte Simmons, Kaylie Thomas, Allie Grace Jurgens, Lennon Jurgens, and Robert Jurgens. Mr. Hughes was a jack of all trades. He was a fantastic mechanic. He could tear anything apart and put it back together. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Everything he did in life was centered around his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved children and they loved him. He was a very happy person who loved life. He never had an enemy or met a stranger. Mr. Hughes wasn’t wealthy, but he was a very rich man. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home and Cemetery.
